Pie with cricut cake

My son made the pie and i made the top. I rolled out pie crust on cricut cake mat covered in shortening. I put in freezer for 15 minutes. I made design on gypsy which is better cause you can work fast while the dough is cold and firm. After i cut it i put it back in the freezer for a few minutes. I brushed egg wash on crust and then put pieces on it and brushed egg on that. The pie says marcs apple pie and has apple shapes on it. The cricut cake cut it out awesome!!

New Carts

I got my carts from cricutmachine.com yesterday: birthday bash, wrap it up, holiday cakes, elegant cakes, and birthday cakes!!! I am bugging people to let me make them a cake for their occasion just so I can play and learn. I put my cake business on facebook: Creative Cakes by Heather. Now I need to put an ad in the local paper. There is only one other cake person in the paper around here.

Glitter it

I had plain clear glass ornament. Poured in some glitter it by beacon adhesives and swirled it around inside covering entire inside surface. Poured extra back in container. Used a funnel to put glitter inside the glass ball and swirled it around covering all of the inside. Poured excess on paper and used it for the next ball. I am going to put first initial of each child in family with vinyl or alcohol ink using vinyl stencil. I got the glitter it at a c moore right at the front of the store in all the xmas crafts. Happy crafting!!!

A project for a friend

My friends dog died today so I made a remembrance page and put it in a frame. Her dog was 16 years old so she was very special to a lot of people. I used a kit to make this page. The paper, photo corners, tags and letters were part of the kit. I copy and pasted the rainbow bridge poem and a pic of the dog int word and printed on photo paper. I also made my own button threaded with ribbon to match layout.

Cricut cake

This is my four year old's creation. I think she did pretty good piping the frosting. She has been watching me for a long time.

Cricut cake

It cut through so easily. I put gumpaste rolled out on mat in fridge for ten minutes before cutting and ten after cutting and it worked good. I also had pressure on medium. I put edible sugar pearls on design after.

Cricut cake

First cricut cake cut

I am babysitting today and let the kids decorate their own personal size cakes. This peace sign is the little girl's favorite symbol so i custom made one for her on my gypsy. I used cricut gum paste, rolled it out on greased mat, chilled it, and then cut it. I should have chilled it a bit more longer but it cut fine anyway. I also chilled it after i cut it so it would hold better when i transferred it to the cake. I will be posting more if our custom creations. We are also having so much fun. These girls have never done anything like this before and i love teaching the young ones new things!

Pink circle challenge

I have a photo in mind to place in the placeholder. I used pink ribbon across bottom of page which I sewed onto page making pleats. I added pink gems along the ribbon using irock. Also there is a pink sentiment and a pink scallop heart and circle, and also a pink tag in a pocket with a pink ribbon. I am going to place a picture of one of my girls on here cause they are always making wishes for their futures. I am crossing my fingers for at least the journey cartridge cause cancer has touched many people in my life. Three of whom are very close to me: my son and my aunt and uncle. It seems like cancer victims are popping up everywhere especially in my loved ones. They continue to fight this disease and are my inspiration!!

I've moved again....

....just kidding just my scrapbook supplies have moved. I have spent more time moving my scrapbook stuff around than I have actually scrapbooked. This is the fifth time in two years I have moved my scrapbook area. I had all my stuff upstairs in my dining room, but now I moved it downstairs where it will hopefully stay. My step-son and step-daughter and her two kids moved out this week. There is a lot less for me to do now so I will be scrapbooking more. I want to start making holiday decorations and cards. I also want to start selling on ebay again some of my premade scrapbook pages. My ebay user name is geminihg77. It is autumn here in southern Maine and the leaves have changed colors very fast. There is the most beautiful tree across the street that I see out my window and it is the most beautiful shade of orange and yellow. We have had a few chilly days here and I've started my woodstove twice because of it. Tis the season to snuggle!

Update

Since the last post I have been back home trying to get back to normal. My son has been healing from surgery very well. We learned that docs may not have completely removed all of the cancer. This means that he is going to need chemotherapy after all. He started his chemo treatment yesterday and was supposed to have treatments three days in a row this week. He became very ill around two this morning and had breathing trouble so i rushed him to the hospital. They gave him meds to stop vomiting. I had to pretty much force him to come to todays chemo treatment which they didnt make him do.

UPDATE

My son has been home for 3 weeks and is doing well. He still has a feeding tube because he's not swallowing right. We go back to Boston this Thursday for another swallow test and doctor appointment. I wish he could do his appointments in Portland because Boston is 2 hours away and Portland is a half hour.

Scrapping update: I got my pink ATG and I Rock yesterday and I tried them out and they are awesome!! I waited 2 months patiently to get them from Glenda. She did an awesome job though dealing with customers and slow manufacturers. She gave everyone a little extra something with our orders for waiting so long. I did a little work on my "Love Album" of me and my husband last night. I also ordered the straight from the nest cartridge and I can't wait to get that. The circle people should find out what the next cartridge is going to be any day now. We don't get it until October but I just want to see what it is!!! Also, I have been checking out the cricut Imagine machine and I totally want it!! I have been leaking little bits of information to my husband about it hoping he will buy me one. WooHoo! I hope everyone had a great summer!

Son update

He has developed an infection in his face so he has been given antibiotics and we are staying an extra day or two. Meanwhile, since We've been in Boston, my 20 year old daughter and her two kids have moved back in for a little while. We definitely have a full house now.

So I have been blog hopping and getting inspiration for a project when I get home. I am going to make back to school cards for all the kids in the family. My two and my nieces and nephews. I wish I had my gypsy with me.

My amazing children

I have to say that i have the most amazing children. When two of my kids have been in the hospital they have healed and done things so quickly that they not only amaze me but also the doctors and nurses. These kids have amazing strength and courage to bounce back from their injuries and face recovery head on.

Update on my son: okay so it hasn't even been a week post op and he is going to have his trache out tomorrow, he is up and using crutches, and is tolerating the feedings. He has all his drains removed for which there were four. His cast and bandagea removed from his leg. He has staples from his knee to his ankle. This was the most shocking thing to me. I had no idea that it was going to be so big.

Surgery update

My son had his surgery last wednesday august 4. It lasted 10 hours and I didnt get to see him until three hours after that. Needless to say i was pacing the floor. The first doctor removed the entire tumor and the tissue around it. The next doctor went in and took bone and tissue from his leg and rebuilt the left side of his jaw. He is breathing through a traque in his neck. He also has a feeding tube in his nose. Surgery was a success!! No chemo or radiation for him this time!! He is young and strong and will heal quickly. I think we will b going back home by Friday. Home nurses will probably take over from there.

UPDATE!!

I just wanted to explain further about what's been going on in my life lately. My 22 year old son has been officially diagnosed with cancer--again! He had it once when he was 17 and went through chemotherapy and radiation therapy to get rid of it. well its five years later exactly and he has it again. he may only need to go to Boston and have surgery to remove the tumor. I pray he only needs surgery. he is so skinny to begin with that he won't take chemotherapy and radiation well. I think he is going to Boston on monday for a consult. I will keep you all posted about what's going on. Now this is why I voted for the pink journey cart in the rewards section!! My son is an angel and a trooper and will go through this like it's a little speed bump in his life.

cricut circle

I just wanted you to know that I did splurge and join the cricut circle at $275. I like the mystery of it all kinda like christmas with all the unknowns and the unknown future cartridges. Also my husband let me join. So I have a few conditions to abide by and here they are: no using credit card, no buying carts, no more buying paper. I think I can hold back for a while maybe 3-4 months before I feel the need to get a new thing. But by then my next cartridge will be coming from the circle. I think I am going to do awesome following this. I have tons and tons of product piling up and not being used. I am addicted to shopping for scrapbooking supplies. Maybe the circle will help me focus on making pages instead of shopping for a future project supplies. I really do need to use all this great product that I have acquired. Unless something screams at me to buy it--I am on a shopping ban.

Taking a hiatus

Hello everyone.

I am going to be taking a little while off from blogging. My kids are out of school now for the summer and I have lots of household things to catch up on. When I return, I will definitely be doing videos and tutorials. I also hope to be somewhat more organized on here and be more consistent with my posts. Thanks to all who have stopped by and to my followers. I hope you will come back when I return with some new projects!!

Have a great summer everyone!!

Journal card

Apple mini album

Made with apple from doodlecharms. Designed on gypsy. Welded apples
together and cut stems and leaves off. Cut leaves and stems from green
and brown and adhered them to the cards. Cards were also cut from
doodlecharms. Album is about 6" in height.

This is a mini album I made. The font on the front was cut from
opposites attract. I used cereal boxes covered with patterned paper
for the front and back covers. I just used plain white Georgia pacific
cardstock for the inside pages. I used the bind it all to bind the
book together.

Homemade glimmermist flowers

Here are a few of my glimmermist flowers. One is my first try at a
grunge flower.

Shimmer mist ingredients

I am so happy with how easy this was and how good it came out. Now I
am going to use these on every project.

Happy spraying,

Heather

Homemade shimmer mist

I did some research on how to make homemade shimmer mist and this is
what I came up with. I was going to use small travel size hairspray to
make my mist in but I came across this spray hand sanitizer and I
thought this would work the same as hairspray plus it has a wicked
cool spritz to it. I also got hairspray to make others. I made my
green mist in the green hand sanitizer bottle and it worked so good.
All I did was pour out a little bit of the sanitizer so there was room
to put a little bit of metallic acrylic paint and little bit of
perfect pearls in. Shake vigorously before spraying onto project.

Yummy cookies

I have been in a cake and cookie making mood lately. Here's some
cookies I made and decorated them a few days ago. It took me hours and
hours to make them but I got some good practice. **I'm thinking where
r all the bake sales when you need 'em* My family is getting so sick
of all the sweets. I just want to make the stuff for some decorating
practice.

The fifth new cartridge!!!

........it's Toy Story!!! Wow this is so exciting I am going to go check out the pix.

Happy scrapping!

Heather

Hello thursday!!!

Today is the day provocraft announces the new cricut cartridges. Out of the five new ones,I like the Cindy loo one the best!! I will definitely get this one. I love everything on it. The other cartridges that are new are: mini monsters, freshly picked, ?wall decor, and the other one at cricut.com has straight from the nest but I don't think that's the 5th one unless it's not exclusive to HSN anymore. I will definitely update when I find out more info.

3D castle gypsy file

There are 7 pages total. To do the three color combination like I did:

Color A= page 1,2,5,6
Color B= page 3,4
Color C= page 7

http://www.mediafire.com/?1xhdtojtjzd

3D princess castle roof assemble video finally!!

This is the part that I had the hardest time with so I thought I would share this with all of you. Just a warning before you watch it--I sound terrible. I had a head cold at the time. Also, I am an amateur videograper so please be nice when leaving comments.

castle pictures

Okay the video I did while making it came out great except i forgot to turn on my microphone so the whole video has no audio. I ended up taking pictures from the video to add here.

When I started looking for directions on how to make this castle I came across this blog cricut butterflies and she made the castle. It is beautiful. There weren't any really solid directions for me to work with. Just that it can be done!
So I began by looking at the book that came with the cartridge. I was totally lost! I looked at it for almost an hour to try to make sense of anything. So I finally figured out that I am only going to be working with 2 keys. The last 2 keys on the overlay or gypsy overlay. I will refer to these keys as 49 and 50.

So I then looked at the directions at the end of the booklet and studied how to put this thing together. I just couldn't understand where all these parts were coming from. I was trying to figure out which key did which piece to the castle. I still haven't and solid info on that. Once I cut the pieces I didn't keep track of which specific cut it was. I just went to town and started piecing it together.

So I figured out that you only need keys 49 and 50 to make this whole castle. You only need 7 total cuts. Okay keep up with me I will try to explain this the best way I can. Okay first 4 cuts will be key 49 and 50, shift and non shift, no features selected. Then select feature 1. Here's the next 3 cuts. No shift Key 49, Shift keys 49 and 50. There's all seven cuts needed for this castle. I used my gypsy for this project. Now the problem with using gypsy is you need to keep all the pieces grouped so they will be resized proportionate to each other so it will all fit together correctly. I put all the pieces on one mat to ensure they would all be grouped together and sized correctly. The next castle I make and video tape will be using more layers and a larger castle.
These are all the cuts on one mat. I used cardstock that I never use for practice.
This is the center of the castle. I used my martha stewart board to mark all the folds. It worked super good. You have to glue the small flap to the inside. when you have the towers all made you slide the other piece over the two. You need to insert the paper flaps into the slits on the towers. This helps for placement too. Makes the castle more solid.
For gluing the flaps together I use my pointy tweezers to hold them together until it holds.
This is the whole inside put together. Now I need to build the walls.
These are the front and back walls.  Connected with the corners posts. Then you just add these two to the completed center piece. After that put the final two sides on. The corner posts do need to be a certain was so that the side walls will connect in the slots. So just make sure that the posts are in the right position before connecting everything. A finished picture of my first castle can be found on another post. Let me know if you have further questions about this. I am also planning to do another video (with audio) of a bigger castle and 3 different colors so stay tuned for that!
